Financial Budgeting

Do you know a little about yourself— your goals, your habits (good and bad), and your personal financial situation? You might know some of the basic principles of budgeting, but do you know them all. At strefazso9.COM we will help you build a budget from the ground up, not brick by brick, but wall by wall, so to speak. You'll lay out some figures, see the result, and then go back and rip out a few pieces and reinsert new numbers if you have to. Why? Because few budgets come out perfect the first time through. If it does, you probably didn't need a budget in the first place. Either you're filthy rich, or you knew your finances better than you thought. wisdom and discipline to achieve a positive financial (and emotional!) balance at the end of each month— or at least most months. So let's get started! A twelve-step formula for budgeting will help you pull it off.

Now, as we go through this, you'll notice that it isn't as hard as it sounds. We won't make you budget for every 69cent soda bought with your gas! You will simply learn to simplify so that you have adequate limits and you maintain those limits. Spend it however you like, but keep it within the limit!

What about the time horizon? Like most people, you probably need a monthly budget, but not all months are created equal! So to create a good monthly budget, we have to plan weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, and other income and expenses. And what about savings? The prudent budgeter uses savings for a lot more than just a retirement nest egg.

To try to make things simpler, group expenses into categories to make them easier to manage. The categories are roughly determined by the level of discretion— that is, choices— you can make about how much is spent on what. You'll learn to recognize and plan for expenses in each of five categories— obligations, necessities, pocket money, family, and personal. Separate categories for “sodas in gas stations” and “athletic socks” just aren't necessary
